www.pensandwatches.com
is maintained by Bruce and Ruth Speary. While we have an interest
and have been involved in many fields of collecting since
childhood, our "passion" for nearly 20 years has been vintage writing
instruments & time pieces. We are members of many collectors
clubs and organizations relating to these fields of interest.
Although
he tends to collect many different items, Bruce's collection is
primarily focused on Paul E Wirt Fountain pens, early ballpoint
pens, Hamilton watches & ephemera pertaining to both pens &
watches.
Ruth's
has been "playing" with computers since the 1970s -
long before they were small enough to fit on a desk top. Her
hobby is web page & graphic design. She is also owner and/or moderator of several online forums relating to
collectible dolls of the 1930s - 1960s. If someone you know shares an
interest in dolls, she'll be happy to send them in the right direction.

Due to the fact that we are constantly traveling in order
to buy fresh merchandise or attend trade shows, we do not have an owner
operated shop. We do, however have several shopping locations throughout
Pennsylvania. All are managed by friendly & professional staff that can contact us at all times in the event they are unable to
answer one of your questions.
In addition, we exhibit at many fountain pen & watch shows in the
eastern & mid-Atlantic regions of the country.
Without a doubt, the merchandise shown here is but a small fraction of our
total inventory, so if you are looking for that particular something,
please feel free to ask.

At www.pensandwatches.com ,
you can always expect a FULLY disclosed description written with knowledge & experience. Any
& all flaws in an item will be listed in that items description.
There'll be no:
-
overuse of terms like "excellent" and "near
mint"- We've handled countless thousands of pens &
watches - many of them old unsold store stock. We know what
constitutes mint and what doesn't.
-
"marriages" or "franken-pens" - we've spent hour
upon hour at the US Patent Library and maintain a huge
library of vintage catalogs, advertising material and original
manufacturer's records. We know what's original & what's
not.
-
shoddy repairs or "crazy glue specials" - we are
"purists" at heart & have a great respect for original
craftsmanship. We believe these items are only on loan to this
generation & should be preserved - in original condition- for the
next. If an item is beyond "respectable" restoration,
it will be sold "as is" at a price that reflects
condition.

Quite simply, it means that you will never be
buying an item that has been "created", glued, painted,
touched-up, or in an any other way been "messed with". In almost
every case, our items are purchased directly from the original
owner and have not had
the chance to be "fooled with" by general line antique dealers
or unscrupulous pen or watch "admirers".
As always, we stand behind every sale
and promise your complete satisfaction with every purchase.

As a rule, all items will be removed from the site immediately
upon receipt of an order. However, while this site is
continuously monitored and updated, it is done so manually. For this
reason, and because of the fact that WebTV users must email their orders, it is possible - although unlikely -for an item to already be sold
when you place an order. In this event you will be notified using
the Email address you provided upon ordering.
If you would like to be notified when new merchandise is
added to this site, please submit a request using our
update
notification form.

Please use the email addresses pictured below to contact us.
Sorry for the inconvenience of having to type the address in yourself
but the direct links were enabling spammers to deliver tons of junk
mail to our accounts. This made it difficult to find your
questions & even your order notifications among all the spam emails. |
| Having email address links on web site pages has also
become dangerous due to computer viruses. Newer viruses will
"pick up" addresses from web sites & insert them as a fake
return address when mailing themselves to others. This is why emails
containing viruses tend to look as if they come from someone you already
know & trust. Hackers & virus programmers count on
this so that you will open the email & the attachment. |
In
order to prevent misuse (spam mail & fake return addresses), we
removed all direct email links from our sites & completely
closed & deleted our @pensandwatches.com (etc.) email accounts in late
2005. The address below is the ONLY email account we use. If
you receive anything from @pensandwatches.com, @paulwirt.com or @weareverpens.com
it is fake & did not come from us. Delete it. Say what you may about
AOL but their built in virus & spam filters are FABULOUS. |
If you
can not view the picture clearly - the email address is now
wbbruce AT aol.com (again, you will have to
either copy & paste or type it in & insert the @ manually
- sorry) |
